my father was a marine and i found a watch in his belongings after he died. its a gold watch with "zodiac hermetic leatherneck award on the face of the watch, along with a picture of some sort of riffleman to the left of the hands. can anyone tell me what this means or if it is even any thing from the military. Thank you.

Butch

All I know is that they were awarded by the Marines on occasion. You will probably have to ask on one of the Marine Corps forums. If you find out, share the info with us.

Hello derekrush, sorry that your father has passed away. I know it's been several years but we miss them until we see them again in the world to come. I'm inquiring about the Leatherneck Award watch that you found in your father's belongings. I was awarded such a watch for being the Series Honor Graduate when I graduated USMC Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego in December 1976. Somewhere along the line, my watch was lost/stolen and I am trying to find one exactly like it to replace the one I no longer have. Please let me know if you still have the watch and if you would be willing to part with it. Thank you, Semper Fidelis and God Bless

I see these watches on eBay often. Keep an eye on watches for sale. They are around.

Hello YuriyV, thank you for your advice. When you say you see these watches occasionally on ebay, are you talking specifically about the "Leatherneck Award" version of the watch or simply the Zodiac Hermetic watches? I am specifically looking for the Leatherneck Award version with the image of the Minuteman and the Leatherneck Award script on the dial. As noted previously, I was awarded one of these watches upon graduation from USMC boot camp in 1976. Unfortunately, the watch somehow got away from me and I am seeking an exact (or as close as possible) replacement. I do have a saved search for the watch on ebay. They currently have a few of the Zodiac Hermetic watches on there but no Leatherneck Award version. I will keep watching and looking! Thank you, Sir!

YuriyV

Yes, I was talking about Leatherneck.
