Their stabs in the dark because they desperately want this to be true are almost comical.  Using that Zodiac chronograph as a basis for their beliefs really shows how flimsy this all is.  I have seen the Zodiac chronograph that they are depicting in person multiple times, all of them were marked Zodiac on the movement and on the case.  He has a Heuer case (or caseback) that someone put a Zodiac dial and movement in.  Is it that difficult for them to understand?  The Heuer movement and dial get ruined by moisture, you look for a while and find a similar Zodiac dial with the same movement and you put it in just to get it sold.  It happens all of the time, Ebay is a hotbed for that type of slap together repair and they nearly always claim it was original even when they know what they just did to it.

Of the dozens of Zodiac chronographs that I have serviced in the last year (and who knows how many over the last several years), not a single one has had a Heuer marking on it.  NOT ONE.  They just cant get over the fact that the manufacturers of the cases, dials and movements made them for everyone.  These were not registered designs, so any company could call up and get that same case/dial/hand configuration from the manufacturer.  It is a common thing in the Swiss industry as they are so intermingled.
