General Zodiac Discussion / Triple Date Moonphase Watch Re...
Last post by ericisback - January 03, 2025, 11:49:02 PM
It is my understanding that the Triple Date Moonphase Watch had two generations:

First generation :
- movement hand wind ref. 905 cal.12S or cal.1100
- movement automatic ref. 908 cal.1402

Second generation :
- movement automatic ref. 742-908 cal.74 silver case
- movement automatic ref. 743-908 cal.74 gold plated case

Does anyone know exactly when the 1st generation was introduced, and how long after that until the 2nd gen was introduced?

I have seen the catalogue from 1955 that shows a 1st gen 905 and 908; however, the catalogue from 1953 did not have them.

Per the 1990's catalogs that is the smaller auto version. Some may say womens or boys, or just for a smaller wrist.

General Zodiac Discussion / Verifying some info on this 90...

I recently acquired this Zodiac from the 90s. I believe it's from the era where there was some Tag crossover in design. The ref number on the back doesn't really net much online (beyond the auction I bought it from). I can find this design in a quartz version without the 'automatic' designation. I can also find a white dial auto version.

Any further info would be appreciated. I'm curious if it's technically designed to be a women's watch since it's pretty slender.

Either way, thanks for your help!

Thanks Yuriy! I forget about the push in quick set, so it would be a different stem, as you say.

Stem for regular 70-72 won't fit 76 as the last has a quick set date complication.
There are two major differences of stems for this family:
- no quick set: 70, 72, 70-72, 74, 75, 78
- with quick set: 72B, 75B, 76, 88, 86

Definately the correct rotor.

Per the service manual they should be the same stem, IF using a genuine Zodiac parts (HA!). While I do not do repairs, I think aftermarket stems fit many models and need to be trimmed to fit.
